Weeks Nine, Ten, and Eleven: "Cat? I'm a Kitty Cat!"

Sorry it's been so long! This month has been one of the more unfortunate of the year... It wasn't unexpected, though -- I read a lot into patterns, and Novembers have been overall particularly unfortunate for the last five years or so.

On the bright side, the title I chose has been relevant all three weeks...

October 30:
Obviously I didn't take this picture, but I thought it was important to note that I was Velma for Halloween.

November 5:
Packing for a weekend in Wisconsin, because Fat Anty and Tony were visiting,
and playing with Allie's manual focus for the first time.

November 7:
Dad took me and Nikhil out to Nana Kusa, a sushi restaurant in Milwaukee.
This is the ceiling.

November 13:
Dad, Nikhil, Travis, and I met up with Ama, Angkong, and Dad's cousing Luyang in Chicago.
My favorite: pineapple bubble tea from Joy Yee in Chinatown.

November 14:
The pond at Auntie Luyang's condo complex, complete with geese.

November 14:
At Dr Martin Luther King Church for Nikhil's gospel choir concert.
This is Travis drawing on the "scribble paper" while we wait for the performance to begin.

November 16:
Monica came up to Oshkosh with her boyfriend for a surprise visit!

November 19:
Colonel Hart's, the last stop on Nikhil's 21st birthday.
The boys are counting how many drinks he had...

Check back for the Thanksgiving update soon! Have a good weekend :)

Week Eight: "I YouTubed Your Mom."

Happy belated Halloween!

I realize we're already on Thursday of week nine, but I had a severe panic attack on Sunday night and I've since been recuperating. I'm better now.

...Have some photos!

October 28:
Forrest trying to feed a little bird...

October 28:
...whose three friends didn't quite make it.

October 28:
One of the decorated doors for our floor's Halloween Decoration Competition.

October 30:
Sunset over Neenah on the way to the choir concert.

Thanks for popping in! Stop back for week nine : )

Week Seven: Boat Nectar

I think my life is getting boring.

Like,
I don't party,
I don't drink,
I don't skip class,
I don't do illegal things.

So,
this leaves me with the following:

  1. Homework/studying

...I think I'm doing college wrong.

October 17:
I'm on fire!!!
Isn't it fun when you forget to turn the flash on...?

October 21:
Morning smoothies with Bill and Jesse, before English.

October 23:
A pumpkin and a gourd.
And a candle.

Also, when Steph went home last weekend, I arranged "Pardon Me..." by He Is We and recorded myself on eleven tracks singing my arrangement a cappella. I shared it with my mother via Skype, and my brother ripped the mp3 and made a YouTube video.

Anyway, enjoy : ) Pardon Me... - He Is We (a capella cover)

Aaaaaaaaaaaand.... I'll see you next week.

EDIT:

I read the opening of this entry to Steph just now.

Steph says,

"No! That's not true. Write that we have candy. We have Chinese food. Piano, pool, late-night movies, Ghost Hunter marathons, and YouTube video rolls. And ridiculous jokes that can last for weeks.

"AND... if your life is boring, then mine is too."

Seriously, what would I do without that girl?

Bye-bye for realsies now.

Week Six: Greg Kinnear Dies

Hey there!!! This week was admittedly less eventful than previous weeks, but photos have been promised!

October 14:
Chilling with Lydia in the Scotts' courtyard

October 14:
Lydz : )
October 16:
Hands On Oshkosh volunteer day

October 16:
Our group was assigned the UWO Head Start center.
We couldn't find the door...

Take care and thanks again! : )

Week 5: Stop-Motion Obsession

Hello! I know we're already into week six, but week seven is going to be the first week of regular blogs. Once a week. I can do this. (Lord knows the day supplies me with enough photos for TWELVE blogs a DAY.)

Phew!!! Here goes.

October 3:
Travis finally figured out the superhero mask after Nikhil spent a good two hours teaching him at IHOP.

October 3:
Then Travis, Nikhil, Dad, and I went to an apple and pumpkin farm.
Here's me looking at my crazy little brother through a loop in the breed-denoting tree ribbon.

October 5:
I discovered water macrophotography
(super up-close photos of things distorted and flipped through water droplets)
through my Stumble button and decided to try it!

October 9:
Steph and I had our first official roommate bonding night!
This is one of our refined and glamorous "roommate photos" (obviously).
Thanks for tuning in this week! Coming soon: Week six. (I bet you could have figured that one out.)

School in September (Weeks 1-4)

OK, I'm going to start being good and post on here. I have trouble finding the motivation sometimes, but I think that's because I over-think what I should say, or what would be funny, or what a good title would be, or how to properly word it so I'm not being boring, or what topic to even talk on...

Then I remembered that the original purpose of starting a blog was to document my college experience. But that still doesn't solve the motivation problem, so how could I trick myself into doing what I initially wanted? Being my responsible self, I set a goal: A blog a week, with photos from each day.

So for this entry, I'm just going to post a few things from each week so far, and from now on I will post every week!!!
With photos!!!!!!
Or at least I'll try!!!

WEEK ONE: 9/5 - 9/11

September 6:
Sierra (next-door neighbor) straightening Will's mane

September 11:
When you have extra Stryrofoam,
why let that go to waste???
This is my door decoration for Will's room.

September 12:
Sunset through the Scotts' courtyard

WEEK TWO: 9/12 - 9/18

September 13:
Will tries on Ashley's (down the hall) sexy Santa dress.
He needed to fill it out a little more on top, so they used our cups.
Well, I guess I'll be drinking straight from the bubbler from now forward...

September 14:
Jam session next door with Cassie (left) and Sierra.

September 14:
My and Steph's door decoration.
This took me four hours and two ballpoint pens.

September 17:
Will and I witness a dog driving a car.

September 17:
Will walking back to his dorm.
I decided to lay in the grass and watch the sky.
Best things.

WEEK THREE: 9/19 - 9/25

September 19:
Dad, Kim, and Travis came up to see me!

September 19:
Will and I had a photo shoot in the laundry room.

September 19:
Then I had to be the subject for a bit.

September 22:
I organized a blue-themed photo shoot,
featuring Will, Sierra, Nicole (Sierra's roommate), and Steph.

September 22:
(left to right): Will, me, Nicole, Steph

WEEK FOUR: 9/26 - 10/2

September 27:
I made Jesse (from my English class) play some classical piano for me!

September 30:
Steph's carnations from her boyfriend, Cody.

October 2:
The Naiks convened in Milwaukee for the tri-annual Packers game,
so I went down to Milwaukee to see my pretty mommy!

October 2:
Walking to dinner at Balistreri's.

Anyway, I am going to try my hardest to get a regular schedule with these things. Photo blogs! WOOP WOOP! Thanks for reading... or looking at my photos, I guess. Haha. Have a lovely day.

"Alright, who stole my master remote?"

I know it's been a while! I'm still alive though, it's cool.

I finished packing and was on my way to Wisconsin on Saturday. Travis (my younger half-brother) and I watched Blue's Clues until it was time to pick up Nikhil (my older whole-brother).

Travis

Time to take out our handy dandy.... NOTEBOOK!

Kim (my stepmom) had demanded that we go out and do something fun that night. I asked about my options. My dad, half joking, suggested Chuck E. Cheese, a place I hadn't been in at least ten years. Guess where we went and stayed till they closed.

My brothers and dad.
Also, guess who honed her Skee-ball skills that night.

Only because I just scored in the 10,000 point basket.
No big deal at all.
Oh yes.

Next post, coming soon: College move-in!

"Honey, don't be weird."

Happy September! I was told by a reader that my posts might be "too in-depth," so I'm going to work on that. I think it's just because I didn't use my camera the one day, and so I'm going to make my photo to text ratio much larger from now on.

I had a crazy-fun Monday night with my best friend Lorien. Details won't be shared, just that nothing illegal happened and then I spent the night with her.

Mom and I went to breakfast Tuesday morning at Lucile's, a New Orleans-style restaurant. (The ideal meal there is their chai, beignets, and peach/buttermilk pancakes with raspberry butter. No rivals.) Afterward, we took a walk around Pearl Street to digest some.

Then we went to Essentiels Spa, where I got my first professional massage as well as a manicure (the color is OPI's "Pearl of Wisdom." I was hoping it would make me smart for college next week) and Mom got a facial. There are before and after pictures:

Before:
happy and peppy and eager.

After:
a melty puddle of relaxation.

A couple hours later, we went to renowned Denver restaurant Mizuna for dinner. We all did the tasting menu, which is eight courses in tiny portions. Everything was so good! I recommend it. A lot.

Mom behind her wine glass.
The eighth course:
A cinnamon bun over blackberry compote with
cream cheese frosting and fresh blackberries on top.

Then home, then bed. After a heavy breakfast, massage, and eight-course dinner, I was ready to pass out!

Good night!
