Here's what happened:
April:
Auntie Nisha got married in New Orleans, LA, to Tony Cucar. Left to right, this is my mom, great-aunt, and me.
May:
The Swing Dance Club hosted the Charity Swing Dance, where I won first place in the Jack-and-Jill competition. This is a picture of me that I drew at the restaurant. That's pretty much what I was wearing.
June:
Mom, Mom's friend, and I did the Slacker Half Marathon in Loveland, CO. We finished with a time of 3:23:41. This is me (left) and Mom before it started. The Slacker was my first race, and I am currently training for the Madison Half Marathon in May, to be completed with Mom and my best friend, Glenn.
July:
Mom, Nathan, and I all took the day off of work and went berry-picking. We filled six of those baskets with black raspberries before getting chased away by hordes of mosquitoes ("mozzies"). This is Mom and Nathan before we ventured into the fields.
August:
I was accepted to be a Community Advisor (CA) in the residence halls. During part of our two-week training, we went to Camp Onaway in Waupaca for a night. This is a photo I took of the sky from one of the docks behind the cabins. No color added!
September:
I started an a cappella group on campus called "Clash of the Harmonies." We performed "Let Go" by Frou Frou at the Annual Homecoming Talent Show. This is a photo of me beatboxing.
October:
As an incentive for raising money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure (as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month), I promised my residents that I would dye my hair pink if they were able to raise $100. This is day two of the pink hair. We ended up raising and donating a total of $117 to breast cancer research.
November:
I had my first date with Ryan, who is now my boyfriend. This is a photo of him that I took over the Valentine's Day weekend.
December:
I attended TCX, an annual Christian conference in Minneapolis, MN. Every morning, they held a "main meeting," which consisted of worship, a message, a skit, and more worship. Before each main meeting, each campus would wave a flag so that their fellow students could form a group and sit together. This is a photo of me wrapped up in our campus' flag on one of the days that I got to be the color bearer.
January:
I shaved my head to support a friend back home, Tyler, who had to undergo chemotherapy for a bone marrow transplant. This is a photo of me immediately after I had my head shaved. I am texting my friend Katie, through whom I met Tyler.
February:
These are decorations that some of my residents hung in honor of my twentieth birthday.
That's all, folks! Thanks for reading and check back soon!
